History

From exhibition to furniture construction.
System 180´s beginning started with the simply good idea stemming from the architect Jurg Steiner. In 1981 it was a matter of finding an especially easy and inexpensive connecting technology of steel pipes for the internal transport logistics for the Martin's Gropius patio construction in Berlin. The ides to use transformed steel pipes whose flattened ends are connected with one another by a single bolt was first born and realized at that time successfully.

In 1986 the Museumstechnik GmbH was founded for the realization of the exhibitions planned by Jürg Steiner. The real process of the System´s development and optimization began here. This occurred first in surges, concentrating on concrete projects such as with the exhibition stand for the "Berlin Room" in Cologne in 1989. The System´s development continued into the early nineties with exhibition projects for the Citadel Spandau, the German Historical Museum and for the Ostwall Museum in Dortmund. The system´s chief attraction, the singular joint construction of system pipes, originated at this time.
Henceforth "System Steiner" was also renamed in accordance with the base module of 180 mm to "System 180". Subsequently the System 180 Ltd. was founded for development, production and distribution of the system. System 180 produces on it´s own premises in Berlin-Schöneberg since 1999. The key aspects of work are the advancement of the steel pipe system accessories, the expansion of the distribution network and the optimization of the production processes. Vast industrialized production of System 180´s furniture construction system, which is also successfully internationally distributed, can be found on it´s factory premises.
